  • S-01

    A laboratory report or nothing

Every stone in the register carries a report from an independent laboratory, named on the listing with its report number. A stone without one does not go up, whatever it is and whoever is offering it.

    No report, no listing

  • S-02

    Seen in person

A gemologist examines the stone and checks that the weight, measurements and description match the report. Photographs and inclusion images on the listing are ours, taken at that inspection.

    Our images, not the seller’s

  • S-03

We are paid by the seller

On a register stone we act for the owner and are paid a percentage of the sale price when it completes. We say so on every listing. If you want someone working for you instead, that is the sourcing service, and you pay us.

    Stated on every listing

  • S-04

    We never hold the stone

The owner keeps it until the sale completes. We arrange viewing, the transfer and the paperwork. We never take title, and we never quote you a valuation for a stone we are selling.

    Owner holds · we broker

Stones that are already cut,
already tested, already for sale.

Dealers, cutters and private owners bring us stones they want to sell. We inspect them, we check the laboratory report, and we publish the ones that hold up. The stone stays with its owner. You deal with us.

(Fig. 05)CondicionesComisión, pagada por el vendedor

Quién nos paga, y cuánto.

En una piedra del registro actuamos para el propietario, no para el comprador. Lo decimos en cada anuncio, porque un comprador tiene derecho a saber de qué lado estamos antes de escribirnos.

What it costs the seller
A percentage of the sale price, on the scale below, agreed in writing before the stone is published and stated on the listing. Nothing to submit, nothing to publish, nothing if it does not sell.
What it costs the buyer
Nothing to us. Our fee comes from the seller. Your costs are the stone, any second laboratory opinion you commission, shipping, duty and tax.
What we will not do
We do not value the stones in the register, we do not forecast what any stone will be worth later, and we do not give investment advice. A price on a listing is the owner’s asking price, not our opinion of what it is worth.
Withdrawal
An owner may withdraw a stone at any time before a sale is agreed. We may remove a listing at any time, including if anything about the stone or its papers stops adding up.

(Fig. 06)Preguntas6 respuestas

Antes de
hacer el encargo.

Las preguntas que más hacen los clientes. Lo demás va en el campo «notas» del encargo.

P-01Do you own any of these stones?

No. Every stone belongs to the person offering it and stays with them until a sale completes. We publish, we broker, and we are paid by the owner.

P-02Then whose side are you on?

On a register stone, the seller’s. That is what being paid by the seller means, and it is why we say it on every listing. If you want us working for you, brief us instead and we will go and find a stone to your requirements.

P-03Why should I trust the report?

Because it is not ours. Every listing names the laboratory and the report number so you can check it against that laboratory’s own verification service. You are welcome to send the stone to a laboratory of your choosing before you buy.

P-04Can I see the stone before buying?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Viewing is arranged with the owner or at a neutral place.

P-05What does the price on a listing mean?

It is what the owner is asking. It is not a valuation and not our view of the stone’s worth. Some owners publish a price, others ask that enquiries come first.

P-06What happens if a report turns out to be wrong?

The sale does not complete. If a stone is already sold and a laboratory later contradicts the report it was sold on, we put the buyer and the seller back where they started and take nothing.
